Back in the day boards were made to last, these days unfortunately boards are made to break…..sad but true.
Your standard shorboard made with lighweight materials will last you a year, maybe more if you lucky.
This suits shapers pretty well because you have to come back and buy a new one in a relatively short amount of time, most of the time suits you because you get a new board.
But what if you dont have an annual surfboard budget that accommodates a new board or 2 every year, and want a properly made board that will last like they used to ‘back in the day’….you get one made like they used to back in the day.
The Modern Vintage Volane series is a batch of boards made with first grade Burfords blanks and 7.5 and 10.5 ounce volane cloth that will turn aqua green with age giving them that classic old-mal look.
Boards made like this in the 60s and 70s are still around today and will be around for many years to come.
